MY THOUGHTS ON RELIGION or 'HELL, HERE I COME!'
IF YOU THINK YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY, THEN DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!!! STOP!!!.
These are, as I say, MY thoughts which I am entitled to. Any replies damning me to everlasting hell are welcome and totally expected. Phew, I can feel it getting hotter already!
Religion (in my eyes) is the biggest cause of worldwide segregation of the human race. Wars are fought in the name of Religion! WHY? Because him over there worships a statue of an emu! and him over here worships a statue of a frog! therefore, emu guy attacks frog guy for not worshiping the emu!... WHAT!!! What a load of crap!
My husband went to a school of one particular Religion, I went to a school of a different Religion.
He believes what he believes, which I accept as his right, and I don't believe any of it, which he accepts as my right. He told me once, how as a young child he actually dared to question something in one of his classes and was severely chastised for the SIN of questioning and not just accepting what he was being told.... WHAT!!! How dare they presume that they know all and all they know is right!
Unfortunately (or then again fortunately depending on your point of view), not having much, or in fact any knowledge of the numerous Religions in the world, I can only comment on those I know of, but I find it totally unacceptable that they all can instil fear into us lesser mortals with their threats of HELL & DAMNATION. Yet you can sit in a box, talk through some mesh to some guy in a frock and ask for forgiveness, and him in the frock, who is a human being just like the rest of us, gives a penance to do and forgives us our sins!!!...WHAT!!!

"Me again, forgive me, I did the same as last week"

The Pope! who is this guy? What has he done to be so revered? No really, what is it that he does? (This is a genuine question!).
All I ever see is an old guy on a balcony waving at people, saying whether being gay is a sin or not, having abortions is a sin or not, this and that is a sin or not, then riding round waving at more people from a special car with bullet-proof glass!!
We are all humans no matter what shape, size, ability, disability, colour, etc. Why should a belief in something/someone cause so much destruction, problems and hatred between the peoples of the world?

On a very serious note, I have come to despise the Church due to the numerous child abuse cases that are surfacing more and more. Dirty little secrets hidden and protected by 'The Cloth'. What other atrocities are yet to be discovered?
I wish I did believe that they would all rot in Hell!!!

It is refreshing to see someone so plainly unimpressed with religion. I agree that religion is a huge scam devised as a potent form for some men to control other men. Basically, this is just like socialism or communism, only that it is the God, or the Book, that is controlling you instead of the State.

Religion is not the reason for conflict it is the excuse. It always will boil down to politics, but normal people are hard to convince without a reason, so religion appears. This doesn't make religion bad, that makes a small amount of people who use it for their gain bad. As they say, "don't judge a book by its cover".

Good Post! I'm gearing for my religious post coming soon too (victoryachasegoestotherapy.blogspot.com) It's just a bit hard to write. But I and other's that have suffered through miserable abuse did so at the hand of parent's "given authority through God" and it's such an awfully easy way to hypnotize people and subjugate them to horrible things.
Not that I don't still proclaim myself to one, just that I'm still battling with my God.
