GIVE ME YOUR UNWANTED ANIMALS!!

It seems people want me to have my own zoo! Not my choice, they just keep GIVING me animals. Do I have 'give me your unwanted animals' in neon lights over my head?

Number 1....Our dog Sally (she is now ten), given to me by stepdaughters, as their Mother was going to have her put down. (couldn't resist the teeny little puppy!)

Number 2....Four unwanted fish from a neighbour - Goldie, obvious (only one who still looks like its name), Sooty, turned totally gold?, Snowy, now half white, half gold? and Patch, now totally white yet retains a small patch of gold over its top lip, thus causing me to nickname it Hitler.

Number 3....An extremely antisocial budgie, Buddy, given to me due to its habit of attacking its mate, which it eventually killed! Go anywhere near her and she just turns her back on you! (if she could roll her eyes and tut, I think she would!).

Number 4....A cute little guinea pig, Squeaky, (I actually bought this one, for my Daughter) Bargain! so I thought!!! Free cage, food, bedding, bowl etc.. wasn't told it was a vampire guinea pig! If it could jump high enough it would go for your throat!

Number 5....Called in Pet Shop for food for my growing zoo, ended up coming out with a 'free to a good home' cockatiel! Buddy. Ruddy thing won't shut up!

Nearly! Number 6....Husband almost came home from work with a DUCKLING! Said someone was giving them away and seeing as we had a kiddy paddling pool in back garden...........

ARRRGH!!!!

Wow...another animal lover...I was brought up with animals (could be worse, I could have been bought up BY animals..LOL!). We always had pets when we were youner - 3 dogs (Katie, Cindy and Rannii), 3 tortoises (Humperdink, Heinz and Hulk), a three leggeed Hampster (Ponty Mython), and lots of goldfish (I never asked them what their names were!). Since I moved into my own house, I have sooo missed having animals around. I can't have any at the moment because I have to work too many long hours...but one day I hope to open my front door to find a dog waiting for me, wagging it's tail.

Azzitizz, what a wonderful post, your blog just simply gets better and better. I am sure you are a caring mother to your family and all of your pets. Keep up the great writing!!!!

By the way, thanks for the lovely comments on both my Father's and my blogs. Your words are very encouraging and greatly appreciated :)

Take care ~ Graham

Yikes! My story is yours...just on a smaller scale. Last August we moved into a new house with one dog and one bird. Now my daughter and her boyfriend (who works at a pet store) added two geckos, and when they were fighting all the time realized they were both males. Then they rushed out to buy those guys separate tanks and girl geckos to live with. That makes 4 geckos. Then, the other daughter, who had raised an outdoor cat at her boyfriends' house, calls me with dreadful news that - her favorite cat's brother was hit by a car and killed. She would be bringing her cat home to live that very evening! What could I say? One cat, that won't be so bad...eventually it will get along with the dog...how much bother could that be? Three weeks after she came to reside with us, I picked her up and realized she had enlarged mammary glands...guess the joke was on me...we cancelled the vet appt. to have her spayed - HA! Well, 5 kittens later...what a zoo! The kittens are 6 weeks old and I can hardly wait for 12 weeks when two of them can pack up and go to their new home. Oh yes, we had to put one kitty down, and what could I say? Yes, we can keep the other two kittens. Maybe I should practice saying "no" in the mirror...thanks for brightening my day with your story!

Hi Azzitizz,

Firstly, a big thank you for your lovely comments and for recommending my Blog in the Awards. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated as I am very new to this blogging world.

I look forward to revisiting your blog to read more of your amusing posts in the near future. I hope you have not been too badly affected by the weather. As Graham has mentioned above, we are also big pet lovers.

Once again, thanks for your kind comments. ~ Dave

oh yes i fully relate...
all my pets are other people's hand me downs...
there is only sooo much room on my bed of a night and then they all let me get in!
i love them alot and cant turn them away but when these guys leave the planet there is going to be a sign on my door "if you have a pet to give away -im not home and wont be returning for 100 years!"
love your blog!

I once had a total stranger turn up at the door with a lost whippet simply because someone had told him that " her at 21 likes animals". I was just getting attached to the poor little mite when his owners turned up to take him home. Not to worry tho, my nutty next door neighbour decided to move house leaving behind two budgies and six goldfish. Guess where they ended up living ? I guess some of us really do have a sign shining above us!
