NOSTALGIA
Graham from http://grahamettridge.blogspot.com/ (go take a look, a fantastic blog!), just reminded me in my comments section of my TIZWAZ post, about a programme called 'Sapphire and Steel' with Joanna Lumley and David McCallum. They should bring all these programmes back! TV PEOPLE TAKE NOTE!!
David McCallum also played Ilya Kuryakin (can't remember how to spell it!) in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E' another good dinosaur era programme, he was quite a heart throb in his younger days as was Robert Vaughn his partner in the programe (Bugger, can't remember the name of Robert Vaughns character, can anyone help? It's going to drive me mad now until I remember). Yey! Napoleon Solo, Thats It! Thanks Tammy http://tammysfoodforthought.blogspot.com/ it was driving me nuts!
Joanna also played 'Purdy' in the Avengers. I remember, within a couple of days of the programme being on TV, all the girls at school had the 'Purdy' cut at the hairdressers (including me!).
The fashion of that era, oh, my goodness.... the memories are all flooding back...(fade to a wiggly blur!).....Hot Pants...Tassle Jackets...Parallels...Clown Pants...Mini skirts...Midi skirts...Maxi skirts...Flares...Two Tones...Bell Bottoms...the most enormous platformed shoes you have ever seen...wedge shoes that were so big it looked like you had bricks tied to your feet!..
multicoloured Flat Caps... spray glitter on your quiff (hair style!).
I could fill pages and pages of my blog with all the different styles, there was such a diversity of clothes, hair styles, shoes, and music. and I tried them all!!!
The thing about back then was, even though everyone rushed to get the latest fashions, as I said, there was such a diversity that we didn't all look the same, unlike the hoodies of today, the only difference between them is if their hood is grey, navy or black! Come on youth of today, get a bit of colour in your wardrobe, be individuals not clones! And the music of today
...same....same...same....same....yawn!
Just remembered another ancient programme, anyone remember 'Daktari'? the one with 'Clarence the cross eyed lion'! everytime the camera was supposed to be seeing through Clarence's eyes, it was all double vision and blurred!!!. Brilliant.

Love your blog....especially reading about the television shows. The Man from U.N.C.L.E was a favorite of mine as were The Avengers. Oh, Napoleon Solo, that was the name of Robert Vaughn's character. I couldn't remember either, so I Googled it. Where would we be without this wonderful thing called the Internet?
I too, love Monty Python, first saw them while at my Aunt's house when I was a child. She stopped all activites to watch them on PBS. Never had I laughed so much! I love when I can catch replays on television.
Well, keep up the good work!
Yey!!! Napoleon Solo, that's it!!
Thanks Tammy it was driving me nuts!!
Loved the Man from U.N.C.L.E.
I remember Daktari, Clarence the cross-eyed lion and that chimpanzee.
As I live in the U.S. I didn't get to see Sapphire and Steel when it was televised, but last year discovered the series via dvd and just fell in love with it, better than Doctor Who. I agree that it should be shown on television again, it was and still is amazing.
Hey, thanks anonymous, didn't know it was out on CD, I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Holy crap!
You're actually..Pffffft!
(excuse me!)
I was going to say:
You're actually quite good.
Enjoy blogging, totally!
(*_^)~~or, don't.
cheers, b.~~gone, but not forgotten. (i tink)
The problem with nostalgia these days is that you can buy much of it back on eBay. It costs a lot to be sentimental!
