SMOKING - COUGH! COUGH!
Just got a reply to my 'Fatbusters update' post from Baba Doodlius, that cheeky little birdie was telling me off for smoking! Actually I agree with him. (cough...cough...)
If, as he says, I knew then what I would be like now, I wouldn't just have given up yesterday, I would never have started in the first place.
Unfortunately, I'm weak willed! Really weak willed! (she says with a ciggy hanging from the corner of her mouth as she is typing, cough...cough...) I remember once, I gave up for about six weeks, I thought I was doing really well until all my work colleagues came into my office and................
every one of them THREW a packet of cigarettes at me and told me to start smoking again. My Brother, although he doesn't smoke, has a special ashtray for when I visit him, it's in the shape of a coffin!
He has told Little'un to nag me about smoking, which she does.
She has asked why I say can't give up, which is quite a hard question to answer. The only way I could explain it to her was "You like eating chocolate don't you?" "Well, would you be able to give it up and never eat another piece for as long as you live?" Her answer of course was "No", so I said "That is how hard it is for me to give up smoking".
I know hundreds or thousands have done it, and well done to them, but I'm a lost cause. It has actually been 35 years now that I have been smoking (not constantly of course, as I don't smoke in my sleep! Then again, I could be a sleep-smoker and not know it! (cough...cough...) I remember long, long ago when I first started, there were no cancer fears back then, as there was no information about it, it was just you either smoked or you didn't, no big deal!
ALL big film stars used to smoke in ALL the films, black and white films I admit, you know the ones, their mouth would move then the words would come up on the screen while someone sat playing romantic, exciting or scary music on a piano. plinky, plinky, plinky, plunk. Only joking, I'm not THAT old. But quite a few of the films were in black and white back then. (cough...cough...)
The top deck of the buses used to be so thick with smoke you could get on and sit down next to your own Mother and not know it was her!
Anyway, sorry Doody, I'm a weak, pathetic smoker and that's just the way it is, but thanks for the concern. (cough...cough...cough...)

I'm with you 100% on every word! Including the cough cough.
Us weak willed peeps must stick together!!
Cheers, I'll smoke to that!

I won't lecture...I won't lecture...I won't lecture...I won't lecture.......
Cooper,
You really, really want to though, don't you?
cough...cough...
:)
I have an idea for a meme. I won't say what it is yet, but to give you a clue... there's 3 months and a few days before it will come into action.... Mmmmm, that's enough of a clue for now, but trust me - I won't forget it.
I was fortunate (although fortunate is probably an inappropriate word), my grandfather died of cancer when I was 13 yrs old. He was my idol, I worshipped the ground he walked on and was completely heart broken when he passed away. I promised myself that I would never take up smoking. I miss him dearly and have always kept to my word.
However, I do agree with you, it is probably easier never starting than it is trying to give up.
Similar to cooper, I won't lecture...... .....YET!
Big hugs from me to u :)
Hey Azzi! Smoking may not be good for your health but at least you've never thrown yourself into the fish tank because of it!
Graham,
I guess your meme idea has something to do with 'Deck the Halls with boughs of holly, fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, laaaaa'
Good for you with the no smoking, it's not only a total waste of money, (you may as well just sit and burn a five pound note every now and then) but you ruin your health too! You couldn't lecture me more than I have lectured myself anyway! cough...cough.
Big hugs back at ya!
:)
Pauline,
Exactly.
See! I told you us females always have an answer for everything!
I actually think females should rule the world, we would get it right!
We would just bitch about the other Countries to our friends rather than go to war!
:)
It wasn't a lecture, just a friendly reminder. Far be it from me to lecture anybody - I don't have time for that. I have to keep thinking of more Mysteries of the Universe that people might want demystified. It's pretty much a full-time job.
Hey Doody,
Sorite! It gave me the idea for the post so I should be thanking you for ridding me of my
'blogger's block'.
Thanks Doody.
:)
It's alright for people to say give it up but it's hard I gave for 6 months until I went to a party and after a few drinks and smelling everyone else smoke I started again.
willau.
Willau,
Don't I know it (still sat here typing with a ciggie hanging out of the side of my mouth! Cough...cough...)
:)
Willau,
GOOD GRIEF! With all those blogs when do you get time to light a ciggy? Hard luck with the stopping smoking by the way, you did real good with six months, I think my longest was six weeks!.
Unless they smoke/smoked, they don't understand just how hard it is. The worst of all are the ex-smokers, with their 'holier than thou/superior attitude'.
Well, to all those who think they better than me because they quit .... 'whoop-de-doodily-doo' you quit, it don't make you a better person than me! phhhhhhht!
(cough...cough...)
:)
Hi! Thanks for the comment! companies that offer all these different services are not to be trusted! You should complain to the trading standards that you still dont have the vouchers!
I just wanted to say that I quit back in May and yes it has been very hard but you are not weak. My problem has not been with the non smokers it is with the smokers. The people I know that smoke keep telling me that I should tell them not to smoke in the house. Wouldn't that make me an idiot? I quit and then expect my friend to go stand out in the cold to smoke. I don't think so! If anything I will have a place for them to sit and blow the smoke out the window but only if it bothers a nonsmoker that is visiting.
