I GOT NITS!!!!!!

Oh my God! I've got nits!
We had this problem last year but managed to keep on top of it, unfortunately with schools not having 'Nitty Nora's' anymore, head lice seem to be rife at present (have you noticed all the TV adverts lately?).
I always do checks on a regular basis with little'un but since she is off school (six weeks hols) and has been clear for quite a long time, I didn't think I needed to keep checking as often, how wrong was I? She plays with a lot of local kids of all ages, some of which go to playschools, minders, out of school activities etc. It never occured to me that she could still pick them up outside of school. Duh!
Well, guess who is allergic to the bloody things?.........ME!

(What is it with me that attracts every type of biting insect known to man, I am the one that always gets eaten by mozzies on my holidays, no matter what spray, electronic device or repellant I use. If you want an insect/mozzie free holiday, invite me along, you will be totally ignored by all species)

Don't know what these little buggers do to me, but I get tiny sores all over my scalp. I only noticed the itching this weekend (just after my heat rash from Somerset had calmed down) then BLAM!! One extremely sore scalp, must scratch a lot in my sleep too as there has been a fair amount of blood spots on my pillow each morning! Is there some new species of 'Vampire lice' that I haven't yet heard about?
I have a fantastic special comb to remove them but my hair is so thick it takes forever and due to my head being sore, it hurts real bad, I mean actually crying out in pain bad. It also hurts just washing my hair at the moment (even with the mildest shampoo).
The thing is, whatever it is they are doing, it seems to be affecting my blood or something as the tiny itchy spots are spreading? Nobody has nits on their arms, fingers, feet, torso etc. (I'm not THAT hairy!!!) Yet these things are now appearing all over the place, this happened last year too. I still have the scars to show for it, little purplish blotches, I scar very easily.
My Sister gets a different reaction to insect bites, she blisters quite severely (think we must be a weird family or something!) The Munsters and the Addams Family are quite normal compared to us.
For some reason, could be his pure white hair, or lack of it (no camouflage in thin white hair), Neeza doesn't catch them whatsoever. Proof yet again that everyone else gets ignored when I'm around.

I went to the Doctor last year and explained about my allergic reaction and showed him what happens, (they don't like self diagnosis) so what did the Doctor do? Gave me a tube of steroid cream and said it was a form of stress related eczema. I was also given, what looked very much like a tub of lard that I had to melt in a bath of hot water then bathe in, it was extremely difficult trying to stand up and get out of the bath afterwards. Now I know how the soap feels when you grab it and it shoots into the air!
Don't you just love Doctors? Go to them with your severed arm in a bag and they will give you a cream for it!

Anyway, now I have driven you all mad by making you itch, (mwah, ha, har!) I will leave you all scratching. Until next time. X

It's amazing how many times you read over these damn things and then someone points out a spelling error that was right under your nose!
p.s. Moody Blues...favorite! Oooh, Oooh! and The Beach Boys, too!

I don't know if this will work with nits but I put garlic in my dog's food to keep fleas away from them and they haven't been troubled at all by the nasty little bloodsuckers. Do you like garlic?

I can remember the first time I had nits when I was a kid. I made deep scratches in my scalp and the stuff mum used to kill the nits stung like crazy. Like you, I have really thick hair and it was long -absolute b...dy torture that fine tooth comb. I only have to hear the word nits now and I'm off...

Garlic eh?
Told you they were bloody Vampire lice! Best get myself a crucifix too. +
Actually I love garlic, luckily so does Neeza so I don't have to worry about garlic breath.
I'll stick a load in tonight's meal. Thanks for the tip.

Oh my goodness, sorry Azzitizz! I've only had nits once when I was young after an unfortunate perm, but my mom shopped my hair right off and still had a time of it since it was so thick as well. The allergic reaction sounds tragic though. Maybe try another doctor... one with a better head on his shoulder.

Your laughing 'cause of my post.... I'm scratching 'cause of yours... LOL!

Nits are a nuisance! Still, I guess they'll come in useful if you get peckish during the night...LMAO!

I agree with ebezp.... Bring back Nitty Nora! Perhaps we should start a campaign!

I have heard a good wives tale for people suffereing from Nits. Apparently, you should stand with both feet in an ice-cold bowl of water, whilst juggling 6 bananas and singing the national anthem...

...it doesn't cure the nits, but bloody well takes your mind off them!!!!

I love how different countries have names for things. Here in the States, they're just head lice but I've never heard them called nits before. I kinda like it.
Hope you get a grip on the nasty little buggers.
Laugh at the last line about Dr's and a severed arm.
